The ReImagining Masculinities Group comprises a team of dedicated, hard working volunteers who share a commitment to making a difference at a local, national, and global level. The goal is to collaborate with educators, community partners, and the public at large to foster opportunities to cultivate meaningful conversations about healthy and non-violent masculinities. Our hope is to inspire empathy, action, and self-reflections through conversation, education, and awareness.

The ReImagining Masculinities conference is an opportunity to cultivate meaningful conversations about healthy, non violent masculinities by inviting community advocates and speakers to come together to advance understanding and conversations on a variety of topics.
We encourage attendance and participation by all community members interested in social justice and in the conference’s topics irrespective of gender identity, race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical abilities, nationality, or religious identity.
Topics include:
– what’s next after #metoo
– what represents toxic masculinity
– building a culture of consent
– dismantling sexism in male dominated spaces
– parenting, mentorship, & education
– transformative justice
– to be a man in today’s society
– being responsible & accountable

The MacLaurin building is home to UVic’s Faculty of Education and School of Music. The David Lam Auditorium, located on the south side (in the A-Wing) of the MacLaurin building, hosts a number of lecture classes and is also the main venue for several of the university’s major public lecture series. The auditorium and washrooms located on the main floor of the MacLaurin A-Wing are wheelchair accessible. The MacLaurin Building is accessible from Parking Lot E. Overflow parking is available in Parking Lot 6. Pay parking is in effect on weekdays and evenings. Parking is free on Sundays.
