PAST EVENT

Food is Land, Land is Body Film Screening & Conversation

a Good Food Gathering Film Screening

The Good Food Network promote healthy and sustainable food systems.

Their purpose is to connect and align our efforts and work together towards a healthy and sustainable food system in the Capital Region.

To be a member, all you need to do is agree to the principles of Good Food, and pledge to further them. You can join as an individual or as an organization, but what is common is that you believe that “together we are stronger.” and proactively work to align your work towards some common goals that we have identified as a network (see our collective impact strategy). You can share your work through face to face meetings, the Good Food Summit and through other network activities.

Territory Acknowledgement

Our broadcast venue Sunset Labs sits on the traditional, ancestral, unceded homelands of the Lekwungen people, now also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. We endeavour to honour this land and its treaties by strengthening our relationship and responsibilities to them, and we acknowledge and thank the Lekwungen people, on whose land we live, work, create, dance and play.

Event Summary

Food is Land, Land is Body Film Screening & conversations with Living in Liberation

Living in Liberation is a living story-telling docu-series, online educational platform, and a community-building project that intends to delve into how food and land relationships weave into health, community, culture, justice, and a global indigenous approach to the sacred.

Through this documentary, we hold space for dialogue as a vehicle for amplifying indigenous, black, African-descent, and SWANA (Southwest Asian/North African) stories, voices, practices, and sovereignty in the food sovereignty and land sovereignty movement.

This event was presented as part of the 2021 Good Food Gathering.
